Happy Breast Balm or Breast Butter: Which One Is Right for Me?

woman 4.png

If you are wondering whether you need Happy Breast Balm, Breast Butter, or both, you are not alone.

Both products were created for the breast and chest area, but they are used in different ways.

Happy Breast Balm is for regular breast and chest care, gentle massage, self-care rituals, breast awareness and ongoing connection.

Breast Butter is for post-surgery scar and skin care, once the wound has fully closed and your practitioner has said it is safe to apply products and begin gentle massage.

Both are about care, touch and reconnection.

As we like to say:

Where good attention goes, good energy will surely flow.

What is Happy Breast Balm for?

Happy Breast Balm is our everyday breast and chest care balm.

When should I use Breast Butter?

Choose Breast Butter if your main focus is caring for the breast and chest area after surgery.

It may be a good fit if you are wanting to gently care for:

  • Healed surgical scars

  • Dry or tight-feeling post-surgery skin

  • The breast or chest area after lumpectomy or mastectomy

  • The chest wall after implant removal

  • Skin and tissue after reconstruction, reduction or augmentation

  • Areas that feel emotionally tender or unfamiliar after surgery

Only use Breast Butter once the wound has fully closed and your practitioner has said it is safe.

Do not use it on open wounds, fresh scars, scabs, broken skin, infected skin, irritated skin, heat, redness, swelling or painful areas.

Can I use both products?

Yes, many women may use both, but usually for different stages or different purposes.

For example:

Use Breast Butter for post-surgery scar and skin care once the wound has fully closed and the area is safe to touch.

Use Happy Breast Balm later for ongoing breast and chest massage once the scar is stable, healed and comfortable.

Or:

Use Breast Butter on the healed scar and surrounding post-surgery skin.

Use Happy Breast Balm on the broader breast and chest area as part of your ongoing breast care ritual.

You do not have to use both, but they can work beautifully together.

Which one should I use after breast surgery?

For post-surgery care, we suggest Breast Butter first.

Breast Butter is the product we created specifically for women wanting gentle topical care for the breast and chest area after surgery, once the wound has fully closed and the area is ready to touch.

Happy Breast Balm may be introduced later as part of your ongoing breast and chest massage ritual, once the scar is stable and healed.

If you are unsure, ask your surgeon, nurse, physiotherapist or health practitioner before applying any product or beginning massage.

Which one should I use for everyday breast care?

For everyday breast care, we suggest Happy Breast Balm.

Happy Breast Balm is ideal for a regular breast and chest care ritual. You can use it after showering, after dry brushing, before bed, or whenever you want to slow down and reconnect with your body.

Use light pressure, soft hands and kind attention.

This is self-checking from love, not fear.

Which one should I use with dry brushing?

If you dry brush your breast and chest area, Happy Breast Balm is the best product to apply afterwards.

Dry brushing is usually done before showering. After your shower, apply a small amount of Happy Breast Balm to clean skin and massage gently over the breast and chest area.

If you have had recent breast surgery, wait until your practitioner has confirmed dry brushing and topical products are safe for you.

For early post-surgery care, Breast Butter is the better fit once the wound has fully closed.

Which one should I use for scars?

For scars after breast surgery, choose Breast Butter once the wound has fully closed and your practitioner has said it is safe.

Breast Butter creates a rich, nourishing medium for gentle scar and skin care.

Do not use Breast Butter on open wounds, fresh scars, broken skin, irritation, infection, heat, redness, swelling or painful areas.

If your scar is raised, painful, rapidly changing, very itchy, hot, red, swollen or concerning, seek professional advice.

Which one should I use for tenderness?

For general breast tenderness that is familiar for your body, Happy Breast Balm is usually the better choice.

Use it as part of a gentle breast and chest massage ritual. Keep your touch soft and slow.

If tenderness is new, persistent, severe, only in one area, or comes with a lump, nipple change, skin change, swelling or discharge, please get checked by a qualified health professional.

Can I use Happy Breast Balm on a scar?

For active post-surgery scar care, we suggest Breast Butter.

Happy Breast Balm may be used later as part of broader breast and chest massage once the scar is stable, healed and comfortable.

If you are unsure whether your scar is ready, check with your practitioner first.

Can I use Breast Butter even if I have not had surgery?

Breast Butter is especially suited to post-surgery scar and skin care, but it can also be used as a rich moisturising butter on areas of dry, tight or delicate skin, as long as the skin is intact and comfortable.

If your main focus is everyday breast massage, Happy Breast Balm is usually the better fit.

When should I get a breast change checked?

Neither product is a replacement for medical advice.

Please see a qualified health professional if you notice:

  • A new lump in the breast, chest or underarm

  • A lump that feels hard, fixed or different from surrounding tissue

  • A new area of thickening

  • A change in breast shape or size

  • Nipple discharge, especially if it is bloody or unusual for you

  • A nipple that turns inward or changes direction

  • Skin dimpling, puckering, redness, heat or thickening

  • Persistent pain in one area

  • Swelling in the breast, chest, underarm or around the collarbone

  • Anything that feels unusual for your body

Getting checked is loving, sensible breast care.

A simple ritual using both products

If you are post-surgery and your practitioner has said it is safe:

Start with Breast Butter.

Apply a small amount to clean, healed skin.

Use slow, gentle touch around the scar, breast or chest area.

Pause often and listen to your body.

Once the scar is stable and healed, you may also include Happy Breast Balm for ongoing breast and chest massage.

Use it across the broader breast and chest area with soft, loving touch.

You may like to say:

“My body has been through so much. I meet it with tenderness.”

Or:

“Where good attention goes, good energy will surely flow.”
